Defining a Report Field

On the Report Format form, press Field (F3).
The Field Types menu appears. This menu displays only the field types that you can use in the active report format window.

Choose a field type. For more information on fields,
see Report Field Types.
In a Total Format or Summary Format window, several of the field types total the values of selected fields. These field types include the name Total. For example, a Database Total field totals the values of the selected field and prints it; a Database field simply prints the value of the field.
Choose To Database Select a field from the primary file or from a file with a one-to-one relation from the primary file. Compute Define a compute field. For instructions, see Defining a Compute Field. Array Value Define an array value field. For instructions, see Defining an Array Value Field. OTM Field Select the value of a field from the first record of a file with a one-to-many relation from the primary file. OTM Sum Sum the values of a field selected from a file with a one-to-many relation from the primary file. Record Count Count the number of records in the primary file or in a file with a one-to-many relation from the primary file. Choose the file whose records you want to count. Parameter Select an existing parameter field for display in a report format. For instructions, see Defining a Parameter Field. Upper File Select a field from an upper level file. This option is valid only in reports with a primary and a detail file.
On the Program Structure form, choose the file from which you want to select a field. In the Select A Field window, choose a field.
Date Paint the current date. Time Paint the current time. Page Paint the page number. Program Code Paint the program code. Program Name Paint the program name. - In the Report Field Definition window, change the default attributes, if desired. For more information, see Defining Parameter Field Attributes.

Press OK.
The field appears on the Report Format form.

Press OK twice to
save the report form.
The system saves the form and returns to the Database Structure-Program Structure form.
