To define a subtype

  1. On the File Definition form of the Database Definition tool, press Define (F6) and choose Subtypes.

    The Subtype Definition form appears.

  2. If the file has subtypes, press Insert (F8) or select a blank line to add a new subtype.

    To change a subtype, select the subtype and press Define (F6).

    The cursor moves to the File Records subform. (If a file has no subtypes, the File Records subform appears when you access the Subtype Definition form.)

  3. Type a condition. For more information, see Defining Conditions. The condition is now a subtype for the file.
  4. Press Enter twice.
