Map User Entries from an Existing LDAP Directory to the Lawson Resource Management Repository

Typically, a decision to share user entries between Lawson and an existing LDAP installation is made prior to installing or upgrading Lawson. In that case, mapping of shared attributes occurs during installation.

However, if, at installation time, you chose to create a separate repository for your Lawson users, you can change your configuration at any time. You do this by "exposing" Lawson users to your existing repository. The process for making this configuration change is the subject of this section.

Persons performing the procedures in this section must be experienced LDAP administrators who are familiar with the Lawson system.

Mapping: Overview

If you are a Lawson customer who uses a supported LDAP directory server for user entries for other applications (for example, e-mail), you can configure the Lawson Resource Management (RM) repository to look in your LDAP directory tree for the information that Lawson needs. This means that you only need to update shared information in one location and the change will be reflected in all applications that use the information.

The most typical attributes to map are shown in the following table. You will map any applicable attributes in the "Lawson RM" column to attributes in the "Typical LDAP" column.

Typically, this attribute is "cn." However, if the naming attribute for your structural class is not cn, you can change it.
