Infor Security Services (ISS)

Infor Security Services (ISS) is a desktop tool for performing some security management tasks related to users.

Using ISS to federate

You use ISS any time you need to federate a system. Federating means making multiple systems, for example, Infor Lawson System Foundation (LSF) and Infor Landmark Technology, aware of users and other resources that are located on each system.

Federating is necessary for LSF, V10 customers who want to run Infor Process Automation (IPA) because IPA is a Landmark application. Data used in IPA processes comes from LSF but the "engine" (software components) comes from Landmark.

Adding users to a federated system

After a system has been federated, ISS is the tool you should use to add new users. Using ISS ensures that the users are recognized by all systems in the federation.

The Infor Lawson Security Administrator tool (LS) is available for adding V10 users. However, if you use it to add new users after a system has been federated, you will need to perform a synchronization.

Note: For customers who federated in the "classic" way, that is, using dump and load tools, a flag, "Turn On Landmark Integration," is available on the LSA User Maintenance screen that allows you to add actor records (Landmark users) through LSA.

Do not use ISS if your system is not federated

If you are using LSF, v10 without using a Landmark application, you do not need to federate and you should not install or use ISS.

More information about using ISS

Instructions for using ISS, including how to federate and add users, are in the Infor Security Services Configuration Guide.
