Creating a New Wizard

This procedure explains the steps in creating a new wizard.

Before you perform this procedure, you should know what you want the wizard to do.

To create a new wizard

  1. Make sure a wizard does not already exist for this form. Use the File Open menu option to check for the existence of a wizard for the form. If a wizard already exists for this form, a file with the name of the form, for example, AP10.1.xml will exist in the location .../content/wizards.
  2. From the Lawson Design Studio File menu, select New.
  3. Select Wizard Designer and then click Next.
  4. Select the data area where the form you plan to create a wizard for is located and then click Next.
  5. Select the system code for the form for which you want to create a wizard and then click Next.
  6. Select the form for which you want to create a wizard and then click Next.
  7. Verify your selections at the summary dialog box. If they are correct, click Finish.
  8. From the Wizard Designer screen, add fields, form actions, custom help text, and conditional branches as needed.
  9. Save your changes periodically by selecting Save from the File menu.

  10. If you want to see how the wizard will appear to a user, click Preview from the View menu.

Changes you make to the database in preview mode take effect, if saved. Make sure that you do not add test data in a production environment

  11. When you are finished creating your wizard, you can exit Wizard Designer by selecting Close from the Design Studio File menu.
  12. Test the wizard by accessing the form it applies to and running the wizard. (To access the wizard: When the form is open, click Help from the Lawson Portal main menu and then click Form Wizard.)
  13. If you have created the wizard in a development environment, you might need to change the wizard data area in order for users to access it.
