Editing a File or Program

This section describes a variety of options available in the Editor for making changes to text or 4GL files.

The Find (F2) and Next (F3) keys offer quick options for finding a text string in the file.

The Edit (F5) menu offers a variety of options for marking and manipulating text in the file on a character, line, or section level. The functions on this menu also let you move around the file based on tags and marks. For more information, see Using the Edit Menu.

The Insert (F8) menu offers functions such as inserting lines, a value, or a command shell output. For more information, see Using the Insert Menu.

Note: The Delete (F9) key operates in Lawson fashion and is described in Editor Functions.

Messages can also be edited using the Message Map and Message Maintenance functions.
