Clearing IOS Cache

When you make some changes to Lawson Portal, for example, creating or changing roles with Role Manager, adding or removing bookmarks, the cache must be updated before the changes will appear in a user's workspace. This is true not just for changes that are made with Lawson Portal but also with other Lawson components, including updates to the Resource Management repository, and other programs such as pgmdef and locdef that are used to customize delivered versions of Lawson components.

Cache will be cleared automatically whenever the Lawson system is restarted or a particular server is bounced. However, if you need changes to take effect immediately, use the Cache menu to clear all cache or just cache for the affected component.

Cache Component Clear when?
Bookmarks You create new or delete bookmarks, which are stored in tables in the LOGAN database.
Programs You create or update application programs using pgmdef.
Tokens When application forms are modified. This could happen, for example, through an MSP delivery.
Locale When programs are changed through pgmdef.

UI Definitions

In the following situations:

  • You have installed an application upgrade.

  • You have run pgmdef and have made changes.

Tokens When forms have been changed, for example, through tokendef.
RM Cache The RM Cache can be cleared when a change to an RM entry (people, thing or organization resource.) needs to be visible to all applications immediately. If the cache is not cleared, a change could take up to five minutes before it is seen by all applications.

Clearing cache for components

  1. Access Clear IOS Cache. (By default, this is available on administrators's home page.)
  2. From the list that appears, select the components to clear. (If any components are selected that you do not want to clear, be sure to de-select them.)
  3. Click Submit.
