Creating a Complete Language Translation File

By creating a complete language translation file, you can save translations to load into other Lawson Environments, either on the same or a different computer.

To create a complete language translation file

  1. Create an ASCII text file to translate.
    1. At the command line, type:

      dmplang [-a|u] [-p productline] dumpfile language [language...]

    2. Type the following selections:
      Program Option Description
      a Dump application translations only.
      u Dump Environment translations only.
      p productline For application translations, the product line for the application translations you want to dump.
      Field Description
      dumpfile File to store the translations in.
      language Language whose translation records you want to dump. You can specify one or more languages.
    3. Press Enter.

      The program runs and displays a message when it completes.

    4. Transfer the file to the Environment where you want to load it.
  2. Load the language translation file into the Lawson Environment.
    1. At the command line, type:

      ldlang [-l language] [-aodr] dumpfile [overrideproductline]

      Note: If the language in the Language parameter does not exist, ldlang creates it and loads records with that language name into the GEN database. If the language in the Language parameter does exist, then you may append records for that language with the -a option or overwrite records for that language with the -o option.
    2. Type the following selections:
      Program Option Description
      l language Load records into the specified language (either new or pre-defined).
      a Add new records only.
      o Overwrite existing records.
      d Report on duplicate records (no update).
      r Report on the records to load.
      Field Description
      dumpfile File containing the translations.
      overrideproductline Product line to load the translation records to.
    3. Press Enter.

      The program runs and displays a message when it completes.
