Defining a program transaction

You can assign the number of users for one copy of an online program process.

You can also mark all programs or a group of programs under a system code, and define the number of users for them simultaneously.

  1. From the System Administration menu, select Program Transaction Definition.

    - or -

    At the command line, specify:

    pgmtrndef

  2. On the Program Transaction Definition form, specify or select the following data.
    Product Line

The product line for the application form ID.

    System Code

The system code for the application form ID.

The system displays the application form IDs defined for the selected product line and system code.

    Program

    Display only. Form ID name.

    Title

The form ID title for the application.

If you change the title, the new title overrides the form ID title for the application only in the active product line and system code.

    Number Users

The number of users for each copy of an online program process. This value is used by the Infor Lawson Application Server.

If you leave this field blank, a single copy of the program is used for all users.

If you specify a number, the system will assign up to that many users to each copy of the online program. If every copy of the online program has the maximum number of users assigned, the system starts another Infor Lawson runtime system process for the program.

For example, if you specify 5 in the Number Users field, the system uses one copy of the program until it reaches five users who are waiting to process a transaction. It then accesses another copy of the program for the next five users.

The system does multiple checks of the number of users assigned before adding another copy of the program. The number of checks is controlled by the QUEATTEMPTS parameter in the latm.cfg file.

If you change this value, in order for the change to take effect, you must do one of the following:

    • Stop and start the Infor Lawson Application Server.

    • Stop and start the Infor Lawson system.

    • Use tmcontrol to force the system to reload the latm configuration values.

    Cluster Node

    Not supported.
