Defining Cluster Nodes and Building the Cluster Definition File

Use these procedures to define the nodes that make up the network cluster for a horizontally scaled system, and then build the cluster definition file on each node or machine.

When you define a node through the Cluster Node Definition utility (nodedef), you specify the cluster node name, host address, host name, machine type, machine description, and the directories where you store your Lawson Environment, database, and application files.

After defining each node in the network cluster, you must build the cluster definition file on each node. This is a binary file that is based on the cluster node definitions. The file created is $LAWDIR/system/Cluster. This file provides information to the Lawson Database Server (ladb), Lawson Application Server (latm), and Lawson Remote Database Service (tcpdbd).

Note: You can also use the Cluster Node Definition utility (nodedef) to delete nodes. If you delete a node, you must rebuild the cluster definition file on each machine and, for any batch programs that you have assigned to run on the deleted node, you must assign them to a different node.
