/etc/lawson.env

The system reads the /etc/lawson.env file when an Environment is accessed through the Change Environment (. cv) command. The information in the file determines operation of the Environment for a user. That is, because the Change Environment (. cv) command accesses the /etc/lawson.env file, users can use the Change Environment (. cv) command to switch Environments and have the environment variables set to the appropriate values.

/etc/lawson.env is created during installation of the Infor Lawson Environment. When you install an additional Infor Lawson Environment, the environment variables for the new Environment are added to /etc/lawson.env.

Variables in the /etc/lawson.env file contain information needed by:

  • Infor Lawson programs.

  • Programs in third-party products that interface with Infor Lawson applications, such as a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS).

They are:

  • Paths to the directories that contain your Infor Lawson programs.

  • Values.

In a multi-Environment system, the /etc/lawson.env file indicates:

  • Active Environments that can be accessed by all users unless specified differently in the applicable .profile. Assigning active and default environments

  • The order in which available Environments scroll when the user performs the Change Environment (. cv) command.

With the exception of the LAWIPC setting, the original settings established during installation are sufficient for most organizations and you do not need to edit them. The following are reasons you might need to edit the /etc/lawson.env file:

  • To edit the LAWIPC for each Environment to insure that each Environment has a unique value for LAWIPC.

  • To establish the shared library path specific to the RDBMS that you install Infor Lawson or when you add a new RDBMS.

  • To accommodate third-party products that interface with Infor Lawson. In these cases, instructions from the third-party vendor tell you what changes are needed.

  • To include an additional Environment.

  • To modify the Environment variable settings.

  • To change the order that available Environments scroll when the Change Environment command is executed.
