Deleting a Job Queue

This procedure explains how to delete job queue definitions. You can delete any job queue except the default job queue for a Lawson Environment.

To delete a job queue

  1. Access the Job Queue Definition utility.
    • Choose Job Queue Definition from the Job Control menu.

      - or -

    • At the command line, type:

      jqdef

  2. On the Job Queue Definition form, select the job queue you want to delete.
  3. Press Delete (F9).

In the following situations, you must first delete the job queue as a submission parameter from the proper form or window before you can delete the job queue from the Job Queue Definition form.

    • If the job queue is assigned to a product line data area/data ID or system code on the Job Queue Defaults form.

    • If the job queue is assigned to a job name on the Recurring Job Definition form.

    • If the job queue is assigned to a submitted job that is either active or is waiting for execution on the job queue.

    • If the job is running in the job queue, then the job queue can not be deleted. If the job queue you are trying to delete is selected for a job submission parameter, Lawson displays a message at the bottom of the Job Queue Definition form. This message either lists the product line data area/data ID, system code, or user name and job name that uses that job queue, or it states that an active or waiting job is using the job queue. For information about recurring jobs and submission parameters, see Recurring Jobs.

If the job queue is not assigned or active in any of the ways listed above, Lawson removes the selected job queue from the Job Queue Definition form.

  4. Press Enter twice to delete the job queue definition.
Note: For users to be allowed to delete a job that has failed and gone to the Needs Recovery status from the job queue, they must have delete privileges on the QUEUEDJOB file in GEN. For more information on Lawson Security, see Lawson Administration: Resources and Security guide.
