Defining Distribution Groups

Use these procedures to work with distribution groups. There are procedures for defining distribution groups, deleting distribution groups, and changing the number of distribution groups allowed on your system (the default is 200).

A distribution group is a set of users and printers. For an administrator working in the Lawson Interface Desktop (LID), if a distribution group belongs in the administrator's distribution list group, the administrator can distribute print files and reports to the users and printers in the distribution group. In Lawson Portal, users can distribute print files and reports to any of the distribution groups defined on the system.

There are two places you must delete distribution groups if you want to remove the distribution group entirely from the Lawson system.

  • From within distribution list groups

  • From within the Distribution Group Definition utility

Before you can define distribution groups, you must set up the following for users:

  • OS user accounts

  • Resource Management information for the users

  • Identities for the users that link the Resource Management information to the OS user accounts

Also, if you want to select printers for distributing reports to a user, the user must be assigned a printer group in the Environment Information screen in the Lawson Security Administrator.
