Resources Setup Overview

To run jobs and distribute reports, you must set up several resources. These include the following:

  • Job queues

  • Printers

  • Users

  • Environment groups (job queue groups, printer groups, user groups, distribution groups, and distribution list groups)

Users who will run jobs have special setup and security requirements. For information about setting up batch job users, see Lawson Administration: Resources and Security.

After you set up job queues, printers, and users, you can set up the Environment groups. You need to set up security rules against printers, job queues, and users to control users' access to those. If you want administrators using the Lawson Interface Desktop (LID) to be able to distribute reports, you must set up user groups, printer groups, distribution groups, and distribution list groups. If you want Lawson Portal users to be able to distribute reports you must set up distribution groups and printer groups.
