Job Management Tools
Infor Lawson provides several forms and utilities for managing jobs. Some of these are available through Lawson Portal and some through the Infor Lawson Interface Desktop (LID). They allow you to view the lists of current jobs, print files, and job definitions; recover jobs; and delete jobs and job history.
These forms and utilities include:
-
Job List form. See Job List Form.
-
Job Schedule form. See Job Schedule Form.
-
Print Manager form. See Print Manager Form.
-
Job Inquiry utility. See The Job Inquiry utility.
-
Batch Job Control Listings. See Batch Job Control Listings.
-
Delete Job History utility. See Deleting Batch Job History.
When you view jobs, prints files, and job definitions, you can view those of other users if you have the appropriate security privileges.
-
For users controlled by Infor Lawson Security, their ability to work with the jobs, print files, and job definitions of other users depends on the specific security rules that apply. For more information, see Infor Lawson Administration: Resources and Security.
Job List Form
The Job List form lists all available jobs, both batch updates and reports, for a particular user. From the Job List form, you can perform such actions as delete a job definition, view the job log, view the print file, or submit a job.
You can access the Job List form by selecting Job List from the Related Forms menu on a batch parameter form, the Job Schedule form, or the Print Manager form.
Job Schedule Form
The Job Schedule form provides useful information about the report/batch updates, including the job name, job description, job queue, start and stop date/time, and status. You can choose to view jobs based on whether their status falls into the Active, Completed, or Waiting category. You access Jobs Schedule by selecting Job Schedule from the Related Forms menu of the Job List and Print Files forms, or by clicking Job Sched on a batch parameter form.
You can use Job Schedule to submit jobs, delete jobs, recover Needs Recovery jobs, and view the job log for each job.
Similar functionality is available through the Job Scheduler program that is accessible through the Infor Lawson Interface Desktop (LID). If you have a horizontally scaled system where jobs may be executed on different servers or nodes of the system, the LID Job Scheduler can be useful to view the job logs. You can start a LID session on the node where the job ran and start the LID Job Scheduler in order to access the job log.
Print Manager Form
The Print Manager form lets you manage the print files that are produced by report and batch update programs. From the Print Manager form, you can select and then view or print a print file. You can rearrange the list of files in ways that make sense to you and delete files that you no longer need.
For each print file, the form lists the job owner, job name, job description, form ID (token) of the report or batch update parameter form, name of the file produced by the report or batch update program, and the date and time the program produced the file.
Similar functionality is available through the Print Manager program that is accessible through the Infor Lawson Interface Desktop (LID).
