To delete distribution groups from within distribution list groups

  1. Access the Distribution List Group Definition utility (dstlstgrpdef):
    • From the Environment Group Utilities menu, choose Distribution List Group Definition.

      - or -

    • At the command prompt, type:

      dstlstgrpdef

  2. In the detail area of the Distribution List Group Definition form, select the distribution group to delete.
  3. Press Delete (F9).

If the group is not assigned to a job, the system prompts you to choose OK (press Enter) to delete the distribution group.

If the group is assigned to a job, the system prompts you for a replacement distribution group for the job. If you do not supply a replacement, the system removes the distribution group from the job definition.

  4. Press Enter.

The system removes the distribution group from the distribution list group. If the distribution list group is now empty and you do not want empty distribution list groups assigned to users, you must remove it from any user profiles it is in and then delete the distribution list group definition.
