Guidelines for Updating

When installing updates to a horizontally-scaled system, use the following guidelines:

• All updates to the Lawson servers should be installed on the primary (master) server only. The installation tools will recognize the symbolic links to the shared disk and deliver updates to the appropriate location in the shared file system, where they are accessed by the secondary servers. Products installed on the Lawson server are:

  • Infor Lawson Core Technology
  • Lawson Portal and Design Studio Backoffice components
  • Applications MSPs and CTPs
  • Self-Service Application server components
  • Application Development Workbench (CASE)

• If you are using multiple web servers managed by a load balancer, updates to products installed on the web server must be installed on each web server. Products installed on the web server are:

  • Lawson Portal and Design Studio web components
  • Self-Service Application web components

• If an update is delivered to a file in the $LAWDIR/system directory, the new file must be copied from $LAWDIR/system on the master server to each of the secondary servers. Updates to $LAWDIR/system are uncommon.
