Working with Environment Forms

This section describes how to navigate, use function keys, and exit Environment forms.

Navigating within Environment Forms

In general, to move forward and backward through the fields on an Environment form, use the Tab and Shift+Tab keys. You can also use the up and down arrow keys to move forward and backward.

Using Function Keys on Environment Forms

All Environment forms have a function key bar at the bottom of the form. The contents of this bar vary from Environment form to Environment form, and they also vary based on what tasks are available for the current cursor position. The position of the label in the function key bar corresponds to which function key you should press. For example, if the Help label is in the first position (farthest to the left), you press F1 to access online Help.

The following table describes the standard function keys. Some Environment forms will display additional function keys not listed here.

Clear Delete field data that is highlighted from the cursor position to the end of the field, window, or detail line. Press Shift+Clear (F3) to delete field data from the cursor position to the bottom of the form or window.
Define Define various objects (for example, step parameters, report distribution, and print file names). On some forms, pressing Define (F6) transfers you to a maintenance form where you can add a record.
Delete Delete a line or object (for example, a job name, record, or recurring job). If you mark a line or object, Delete (F9) deletes the marked lines or objects.

Find Open the Find window. To find a specific item, type a search string in the Find window.

Exiting from Environment Forms

You can exit from an Environment form by pressing either the Exit or the OK key (these usually map to the Esc and Enter keys, respectively). Which key you choose depends on whether you need to save any changes you have made on the Environment form. Generally, press Exit (Esc) when you want to exit without saving any changes and press OK (Enter) when you need to save changes. Because the exiting process for some Environment forms varies slightly from these general rules, check the documentation for the form or program you are working with for complete exiting information.
