Defining Parameter Field Attributes

Use this procedure to define attributes for a parameter field.

To define parameter field attributes

  1. On the Parameter Definition form, define a parameter field.

    - or -

    Select an existing parameter field, press Define (F6), and choose Attributes.

  2. In the Parameter Field Definition window, change the desired field attributes.

    The fields that appear depend on the type of parameter you are defining.

    In this field Type or Select (F4)
    Parameter Name The name of the parameter field.
    Not Required

    Required The user must type a value in the parameter field at run time.

    Not Required The user can leave this field blank.

    Field Size

    The size of the parameter field. The value of this field comes from the database definition of the field. You can change the value for the report.

    If you decrease a field size, the report truncates the field value. For an explanation of how the field truncates values, see the Size definition in Report Field Attributes.

    # Decimals

    The number of decimal places. The value of this field comes from the database definition of the field. You can change the value for the report. This field applies only to signed, percent, and currency fields.

    Sign

    Sign Displays a negative sign (-) after negative values.

    No Sign Does not differentiate between positive and negative values.

    Default Value The default value of the parameter field.
    Select Records

    =, , >, , <, or

    The report includes only records that satisfy the Select Records condition.

  3. Press OK.
