Defining Ranges

Multiple ranges can be defined for a field, and ranges can be mixed randomly with values.

Note: You cannot define ranges for signed or numeric fields.

To define ranges

  1. On the File Definition form of the Database Definition tool, select the field you want to define a range for.
  2. Press Define (F6) and choose Value List.
  3. In the Enter Values Or Ranges subform, type the lowest value of the range.
  4. Press Define (F6) and choose Range.

    A colon appears next to the value, and the cursor moves to the right of the colon.

  5. Type the highest value of the range.
  6. Press Enter to close the Enter Values Or Ranges subform.
  7. Press Enter twice to save the file.
