Defining File Size

If your server requires it, use this procedure to define the size of your files and the increment by which to increase their size.

For more information on file sizes, see File Sizes.

To define a file size

  1. On the Product Line Definition form of the Database Definition tool, type or select the product line you want to define file sizes for, press Define (F6), and choose Default File Size.

The File Size Definition form appears. The system displays all files in the product line.

  2. Type the initial number of records for each file and the increment in number of records by which to increase each file.

To set several files to the same size quickly:

    1. Mark the files you want set to the same size.
    2. Press Define (F6).
    3. In the File Size For Marked Files subform, type the initial number of records for the files and the number of records to increment the files by.
    4. Press OK.
  3. Optional. In the Database Space field, type or select a database space for the file.
Note: The database space must first exist. For more information, see the Lawson data access manual for your database.

To delete a database space, press Clear (F3).

  4. Press OK twice to save the file sizes and return to the Product Line Definition form.
