Quick Painting

Quick-painting is an easy way to put fields from the primary file on the form. You can paint a form that includes either selected fields or all the fields in the primary file. If the form has a detail file, you can also quick-paint fields from the detail file.

You can quick-paint all input-type fields or all display-type fields on the same form; you cannot quick-paint both types of fields on a form.

After the system paints the form, you can make changes to it.

You can selectively quick-paint fields in one of the following four formats.

  • Lawson left-justifies field names and fields, and fills extra spaces between the field name and the field with periods.

  • Blocked left-justifies field names and fields.

  • Compressed right-justifies field names and left-justifies fields.

  • Contiguous displays field names and fields in a string across and down the form.

Quick-paint also lets you put field names before or after the field, or leave them off entirely.
