Server Express License Manager Errors

If you receive error message 191, 192, or 197 from Server Express when compiling a Lawson program, a likely cause is that the license manager background task has stopped running. Following are steps to check for this problem and to restart the license manager.

License keys are granted on a per system basis. Sites with multiple systems must acquire keys for each system that they intend to run the Micro Focus Server Express product on. Licensing levels can be unique for each system. For more information on the License Keys and the License Management Facility, see the Server Express Licensing Guide (included in the Micro Focus documentation).

Note: If you are installing Server Express on a system that has a previous version of Micro Focus product's license manager installed, you must install the new Server Express licensing facility. This new license manager will support and manage both legacy and new Server Express keys.

There are two types of license keys in the Micro Focus Server Express product:

  • Development License Keys

A Developer license key is required for each invocation of the Micro Focus Server Express compiler or debugger. A single Developer license key will allow one usage of the compiler or the debugger at any given time. You should have a Developer license key that takes into account the number of simultaneously active developers that you will need, and what processes (compile/debug) they need to run in parallel.

  • Application Server License Keys

The Application Server license key control how many programs can be launched/running simultaneously. If you need more runtime capacity than the default enabled by their Developer license you must purchase and install additional Application Server license keys.

Troubleshoot the Server Express License Manager

  1. If you receive error message 191, 192, or 197, check to see if the license manager is running. Type

    ps -ef|grep mflm_manager

A message similar to the following means the license manager is running:

    root 28956 1 0 Jul 14 - 0:04 ./mflm_manager

  2. If necessary, restart the task.
    1. Log in as root.
    2. Move into the license manager directory. Type

      cd lmf

    3. Start the license manager manually. Type

      sh ./mflmman

A message similar to the following should display when the license manager is started.
