Exporting user monitoring session-based data using the ssoconfig utility

User monitoring session-based data is data for events that occurred in an entire session.

You can export session data using the ssoconfig utility (instead of the security administration dashboard in ISS).

If you are familiar with the ssoconfig tool and prefer to use it to export user monitoring data, follow the steps in this section.

  1. Run the ssoconfig utility. At a command prompt, type

    ssoconfig -c

and then at the prompt type the security administrative password.

  2. From the main ssoconfig menu, select "Manage User Monitoring."
  3. From the Configuration menu, select "Export user monitoring data."
  4. At the next set of menus, "Export Session Summary".
  5. At the prompt, "Enter the START DATE and TIME," type the date and time for which you want to retrieve user information.

    Use the format:

    YYYY/MM/DD HH:MM AMPM

where "HH:MM AMPM" stands for hours and minutes in the 12-hour clock format using AM/PM

Press Enter when you are finished typing the date and time.

Example: To view data starting from 27 October 2012 at 8:00 AM, you would type:

    2012/10/27 08:00 AM

  6. At the prompt, ""Enter the END DATE and TIME," type the date and time when you want the data snapshot to stop in the same format you used for start date and time.
  7. At the prompt for the file name type the name that you want to use including location. The file must have the extension .zip.

    Example:

    c:\MyReports\27JanUserMonitoringData.zip

The report takes several seconds to generate. The message, "User Monitor Export returned true" indicates a successful export.

You can now unzip the exported file and view the CSV file it contains in a tool that is capable of opening CSV files, such as Microsoft Excel.

  8. When you are finished generating the report, select "Back" to return a previous menu or "Exit" to exit the ssoconfig utility.
