How Lawson Portal Interacts with Other Lawson Core Technology Components
Because Lawson Portal is the main way that users access all of Lawson, Lawson Portal intersects with all of Lawson. The following subsections describe the most important interactions.
Authentication, Authorization and Lawson Portal
Access to Lawson Portal is restricted by the fact that a user must provide valid credentials (user ID and password) in order to log-in to an Infor Workspace. Infor Workspace forwards the credentials to the Single Sign-on (SSO) engine for authentication. If the credentials are successfully authenticated, the user can launch Infor Lawson and can begin navigating the Infor Lawson data and applications to which he or she has been given access. Execution Cycle: Lawson Portal Startup
The important point is that, if a user can log into Lawson Portal and bring up a home page, the user has access to Lawson Portal. Access to Lawson data, forms, or jobs that display in Lawson Portal are granted or denied through some form of security, Lawson Security, or, in some cases, security that is built into an application.
Localization
Lawson Portal displays content in the user's language. At the start of a user session, Lawson Portal communicates with Translate, an IOS servlet, to determine the local language. The Profile servlet tells Lawson Portal where local message files are stored.
