Lawson Core Technology

This chapter describes the structure of the Lawson Environment, the container for the programs and data that manage the Lawson system and provide an environment for Lawson applications to run in.

Illustration: Lawson Environment components

This chapter focuses on three main topics:

  • The structure of Lawson data into a system of product lines, data areas, and data IDs.

  • The MDBS (Multi-Database System), Lawson's mechanism for data persistence.

  • IOS (Internet Object Services), Lawson's web-tier services that are invoked in all user transactions.

Through the Environment, Lawson delivers a number of utilities for managing the system. These utilities are covered in several Lawson documents, and will not be discussed here.
