Adding a New Lawson User to Resource Management

Note: This procedure is specifically intended for Infor Lawson System Foundation standalone systems. If you are adding a new user to a federated system (for example, a system that uses Infor Lawson System Foundation and Infor Landmark Technology applications in a federated configuration, follow instructions for adding users in the Lawson Security Services Configuration Guide.

This procedure describes how to use the Lawson Security Administrator to add a new user to Infor Lawson System Foundation. This procedure guides you through the first screen in the Add User Wizard.

To add a new Lawson user to Resource Management

  1. From the Lawson Security Administrator main menu, click User Management and then click User Maintenance.

The main User Maintenance and Query form appears.

  2. Click the New User option on the toolbar to activate the wizard.

The first dialog box in the Add User Wizard appears.

  3. Type entries for all required attributes.

When typing attributes, you can use letters (A through Z, upper and lowercase), numbers, and a space.

    • Name: The user's full name in the format FirstName Last Name. It is a good idea to populate this attribute for ease of searching.

    • First Name: User's First Name

    • ID: This is the RMID, the unique ID that will identify this user throughout the Lawson system.

    • Last Name: User's Last Name

    • CheckLS: Make sure this flag is set to Yes.

    • Product Line: The name of the application data source that will be the default for this user.

Note: Lawson strongly recommends that you populate the CheckLS and Product Line attributes at this time.
  4. Populate any other attributes that you use at your site. This includes attributes for roles, groups, and other special attributes.

You can modify a user entry to update attributes at a later time if you need to, but you can save time in creating users if you can populate all attributes at one time.

  5. When you are finished populating attributes, click Next.

You should be at the Identity Information dialog box and the message "Add Complete" should appear in the bottom left corner.

If you are adding a "dual user" (a user who will run both Infor Lawson System Foundation and Lawson Landmark Technology) and you receive a Landmark message, the add was not successful on the Landmark side. (No Landmark message means the add was successful.)

If you did not receive any error messages, you are ready to add an Environment/OS service identity for the user.

For more information, see the sections "Adding an Environment / Operating System Identity on UNIX or IBM i" and "Adding an Environment / Operating System Identity on Windows".
