Adding an Environment / Operating System Identity on Windows

Lawson users who run batch jobs or use the command line access to run Lawson Environment utilities must have an identity on the Environment / OS service. This procedure describes how to add an identity on the Environment / OS service for a user on the Windows platform (not UNIX or IBM i).

Note: In previous releases of Infor Lawson System Foundation, all users needed identities on the Environment / OS service. As of SP2 and later, this is no longer the case. Online-only users do not need these identities. If you have online-only users who have identities on this service, you do not have to remove them. When you add new online-only users, skip this procedure.

To add an Environment / OS identity on Windows

  1. From the Add Identities dialog box, select the operating system service from the list of services in the left pane. The OS service name should be the same as the Lawson Environment you are working in. (In the screen shot below, the OS service is called lawenv.)

  2. Tab to the DOMAIN_USER field and type the information for the OS user you want to link the new user to. This cannot be the users "lawson" or "lawenv_system."

Typing DOMAIN_USER information first will automatically populate the SID field when you tab out of DOMAIN_USER. Use the following syntax for the DOMAIN_USER:

Use DOMAIN\user for all domain users or SERVERNAME\username for local users.

  3. Tab to the PASSWORD field, type the password of the OS user, and then click Enter. You will be prompted to confirm the password.
  4. You can skip the UID field. It will be populated automatically.
  5. Click Edit and then click Add.

You should see the message "Identity added."

You are now ready to add the SSOP identity for this user.

For more information, see the section "Adding an SSOP Identity for a User".
