Providing Access for Developers

Use this procedure to set up rules that provide sufficient access for developers to the development tools used for creating custom programs or modifying existing programs.

Note: This procedure provides access to Lawson Interface Desktop (LID) application forms since such access is required by such development tools as pgmdef. However, LID application forms are not controlled by Lawson Security. Therefore, this developer access should be given only to a small number of people or to people only in development environments.

To provide access to application developers

  1. Create a role in the Lawson Security Administrator that will be linked to a security class that grants access for developers.
  2. In the Environment profile, create a security class to contain the rules that grant access to developers.
  3. In this security class, add a rule that grants all access to pgmdef as well as scrdef, rptdef, tokendef, lx, led, and all executables in the Development Tools category.
  4. Assign the security class to the role you created previously.
  5. Assign the role to users who need developer access.
  6. Provide OS permissions to the directories where source code and compiled code exists or will exist.
  7. After a developer has created a new program, grant access in the Lawson Security Administrator to that program and its forms.
