Configuring password recovery via e-mail

If password recovery via e-mail is not enabled at your site, you can configure it using the ssoconfig utility. You can also configure the e-mail address where the new password will be sent. The functions that you will access when you make this configuration can cause problems throughout the system if typed incorrectly. Take care to type accurately.

Before you perform this procedure, you need to know:

  • The password to the ssoconfig utility

  • The fully qualified address of the SMTP (e-mail) server, for example:

    YourSMTPServer.YourCompany.com

  • The SMTP server port

  • A valid e-mail address on the server that recovered passwords should be sent to

  1. Run the ssoconfig utility. From a command prompt, specify

    ssoconfig —c

  2. At the prompt, specify the password for the ssoconfig utility.
  3. From the main menu, select "5" Manage Services and then select "2" Change authentication administration settings.
  4. Press Enter to bypass the prompts for "Enter the OS login Lawson Single Sign On service should run as" and "Enter an OS group to authorize against."
  5. At the prompt for "Enter the password for Lawson security utilities," you must specify the password you use to access ssoconfig. If you do not want to change the password at this time, take care to specify it correctly. You must also specify it at the next prompt to confirm.
  6. At the prompt, "Do you want to enforce e-mail mechanism for password recovery?", specify "1" for TRUE and then press Enter.
  7. At the prompt for "Enter SMTP address for password," specify the fully qualified address for the SMTP
  8. At the prompt for Enter SMTP sever port for password recovery, specify the port number.
  9. At the prompt for "Enter email Id for password recovery," specify a valid password on the server where an e-mail should be sent. Make sure this e-mail can only be accessed by a system administrator.

After you press Enter, you should be at the main menu for the ssoconfig utility.
