Creating a new wizard
This procedure explains the steps in creating a new wizard.
Before you perform this procedure, you should know what you want the wizard to do.
To create a new wizard
- Ensure a wizard does not already exist for this form. Use the File Open menu option to check for the existence of a wizard for the form. If a wizard already exists for this form, a file with the name of the form, for example, AP10.1.xml will exist in the location .../content/wizards.
- From the Lawson Design Studio File menu, select New.
- Select Wizard Designer and then click Next.
- Select the data area where the form you plan to create a wizard for is located and then click Next.
- Select the system code for the form for which you want to create a wizard and then click Next.
- Select the form for which you want to create a wizard and then click Next.
- Verify your selections at the summary dialog box. If they are correct, click Finish.
- From the Wizard Designer screen, add fields, form actions, custom help text, and conditional branches as required.
- Save your changes periodically by selecting Save from the File menu.
-
Click Preview from the View menu to see how the wizard is displayed to a user.
Changes you make to the database in preview mode take effect, if saved. Ensure that you do not add test data in a production environment
- When you are finished creating your wizard, you can exit Wizard Designer by selecting Close from the Design Studio File menu.
- Test the wizard by accessing the form it applies to and running the wizard. (To access the wizard: When the form is open, click Help from the Lawson Portal main menu and then click Form Wizard.)
- If you have created the wizard in a development environment, you might be required to change the wizard data area for users to access it.
