Creating join maps

This procedure assumes that you used the Joins Mapping feature to remove duplicate rows in your Add-ins query and that you followed specific instructions on which fields in related tables to map together.

The Joins Mapping tab is displayed if there are related tables included in the Selected Fields list on the Fields tab.

  1. In Query Wizard, create your Database query or open a previously saved .dme or .dmex file.
  2. Click the Joins Mapping tab.
  3. Select a field from a related table in the first drop-down field, and then select a field from a different related table in the second drop-down field.
Note: If you are unable to locate a specific related table field to include in the join map, check the Selected Fields list on the Fields tab. Ensure that the field is included in the Selected Fields list for it to be included in the Joins Mapping tab.
  4. Click Add.
  5. To create a full mapping of all matching fields between the two related tables, repeat steps 3-4.
  6. To remove a row from the grid, select the row and click Delete.
  7. Click Finish to start the query.
  8. Click the save icon. The join map is saved and retained the next time you open the query.
