Locales
Locales enable you to set user preferences for a variety of user interface features, such as form data display attributes for a location and the language or dialect for the user. This is useful for companies with international offices.
You define locales in the Locale Definition utility (locdef) or the Locale Definition form in Lawson Portal. After you have define languages and locales, you then assign a locale to each user through the Environment Information form in the Lawson Security Administrator (if they do not need the default U. S. English) so that the user is linked to a language for display and translation purposes.
You can define a locale for a language or dialect to display:
-
Date and time formats
-
The character used to separate the day, month, and year
-
The hour and minutes
-
Numeric data in the thousands
-
Numeric units
-
Monetary units
-
The character used for percentage units
-
Whether a negative value has the negative sign before or after the value
-
Whether the language or dialect is rendered left-to-right (LTR) or right-to-left (RTL)
-
Whether the dates and date picker controls display in Gregorian or Hijri format
