The Foreign TranMap
A Foreign TranMap is a file the user interface uses to display the translated versions of a Lawson form. You use the Generate Foreign TranMap utility (genformap) to implement the new and revised translations you have made.
First, you create a translation or dialect through either the Language Definition utility, the Language Definition web-based form, or the file translation method. Then, when a user accesses a form for the time that has a language or dialect translation, the user interface automatically runs the Generate Foreign TranMap utility to generate the form's TranMap using the translated terms.
Updates to tranmap for language or dialect automatically occur when a change to the English default tranmap is detected and the user interface runs genformap. This process occurs when the user interface detects that the time stamp on the default English tranmap is newer than that on the foreign tranmap.
However, after adding new translations or changing existing translations using the language text file utilities, you must run genformap in order to implement those additions or changes.
