The Text File Translation Process

The text file translation process applies to most Infor Lawson Enterprise applications and to the Environment. This process has three main steps: create an ASCII text file using a dump utility, translate the ASCII text file, and finally load the translation to the Environment by using a load utility. You repeat this process for each type of object you are translating, such as phrases, messages, or titles.

If you have completed the translation process in the Environment, you can then create a file containing all application and Environment translations for a given language, save the file, and load it for a different product line.

For translating phrases used by Lawson Portal, the process is different. You import a phrase file for Lawson Portal, translate the dump file for the application, and then load the translated dump file.
