Library and file system overview
The Infor Lawson system uses and stores information in the following two areas of IBM i.
These two areas are illustrated in the diagram and explanations that follow.
Integrated File System (IFS)
The Infor Lawson system uses files in the OS/400 Integrated File System (IFS) to store special Infor Lawson system databases, configuration information, and program RPG source. The IFS supports a hierarchical directory structure, similar to personal computers, and storage of data in stream files. Some of the files in the IFS are delivered to your system and other files are updated by Infor Lawson Environment commands.
When you install your system, you must specify a starting IFS directory for the Infor Lawson files. This manual assumes that you give this directory the same name as the Environment. The installation program then creates additional sub-directories "under" the starting IFS directory: db, gen, gen/cgi-bin, and law.
IBM i Library System
The Infor Lawson system uses programs and data stored in IBM i libraries including an Environment library, a Lawson applications database library, and an Infor Lawson applications program library. This manual assumes that the library names are based on the Environment name.
