Updating Your License

You need to update your license file if you exceed the maximum number of application users. All application users are also Infor Lawson Environment users.

The license and applications information is stored in the IFS in the /EnvironmentDirectory/law/system directory.

Note:  To update your license, you must first have received a new license file via e-mail from Infor.
  1. Shut down the WebSphere application server. Use the instructions provided with your application server to stop the server you configured to run Infor Lawson. The person who shuts down the application server must be a member of the group for Infor.
  2. If you installed Infor Lawson Core Technology on an IASP, at the IBM i command prompt, specify this information:

    SETASPGRP IASPName

  3. Stop the Infor Lawson system.

If your initial sign-on does not include LAWENV, run the LAWENV program to set the environment variables. At the IBM i command line, specify this information:

    CALL LAWENV

Specify the name of the Environment you want and press Enter.

At the IBM i command line, specify this information:

    CALL STOPLAW

  4. Optional. If you want to keep a copy of your existing license, make a backup copy.
  5. Copy the license content you received in email to the /EnvironmentDirectory/law/system directory in the IFS.
  6. Start the Infor Lawson system.

To start the Infor Lawson servers, start the Infor Lawson subsystem. At the IBM i command line, specify this information:

    STRSBS SBSD(subsystemname)

    STARTLAW subsystemname

Note: The STARTLAW command and the STRSBS command accomplish the same thing in this case. They both start the subsystem and the Infor Lawson servers. In other cases, the STARTLAW command is useful because it will start any Infor Lawson servers that are not running even though the subsystem is already running. The STRSBS command will not start the Infor Lawson servers if the subsystem is already running.
  7. Restart the application server. Use the instructions provided with your application server to start the server you configured to run Infor Lawson. The person who starts the application server must be a member of the group for Infor.
Note: The web server must be running in order for the Infor Lawson system to run, but you do not need to start it before you start the Infor Lawson system.
