Defining Translations

Translations are words which field values point to: for example, the translation of the values F and M is Female and Male. Values and translations can be mixed randomly with ranges for a field.

For more information on translations, see Values and Translations.

To define translations

  1. On the File Definition form of the Database Definition tool, select the field you want to define a translation for.
  2. Press Define (F6) and choose Value List.
  3. After typing in values or a value range, press Define (F6) and choose Translations.

The Translates to field appears, and the first value is shaded.

  5. Press Enter to save the translations.
  6. Press Enter again to close the Enter Values Or Ranges subform.
  7. Press Enter twice more to save the file.
