The Password Administrator utility

The Password Administrator utility allows you to perform administrative actions on encrypted installation data. This includes:

  • One or more encrypted data items such as passwords may be changed in the install.cfg. To do this, the current passkey is required to decrypt the current values and encrypt any changes.

  • The passkey used to encrypt all the secure installation data may be changed. To do this, the current passkey is required and a new one assigned. The utility will automatically decrypt the secure data with the current passkey and re-encrypt with the new one.

  • A new passkey may be defined if the current one is forgotten. To do this, all encrypted data in the install.cfg is discarded and new values for passwords, etc. must be entered, along with a new passkey to encrypt them.

The Password Administrator utility is launched at the command line and has both GUI and character console interactive presentations.

Note: No changes are made to the install.cfg until you click Finish on the panel that allows all the encrypted data to be altered.
