Populating an Identity File: General Steps

This section describes, in general, how to populate an identity file for a service or agent. You would perform this procedure when you want to mass-populate identities. (The other way to create identities is to manually create them when you add individual users to the system.)

Before you create an SSO identity file, you should have:

  • Created the SSO service or agent.

  • Generated an identity template file.

For more information, see the section "Generating the identity file template".

After you finish populating an SSO identity file, you are ready to:

  • Review the file for completeness and to remove typographical errors.

  • Import the XML file into your Lawson system.

For more information, see the section "Loading identity data to the Lawson repository".

To populate an identity file, typically you will:

  • Copy the generated file under a new name. This will reserve the generated file in case you should ever need to refer to it.

  • In the new file, copy the IDENTITY node, that is, the tags <IDENTITY></IDENTITY> and all parameters within the node.

  • Replace "FILL_IT" with actual data for all required attributes. Attribute data should be within the ![CDATA[]] notation. This notation ensures that special characters, such as those that might be contained in passwords, will be handled correctly.

  • Repeat this procedure for all identities that you want to create.

  • All identities should appear within the <BATCH> </BATCH> tags.

Identities were created by copying the "IDENTITY" node in the template and replacing [FILL_IT] with actual data for RDID, VENDOR, and VENDOR_GROUP (shown in bold). All identities should appear between the <BATCH> </BATCH> tags.
