Overriding Security Rules for a Role

Use this procedure if you want to override the rules in a security class when that class belongs to a specific role. This does not affect the security class or its rules when the security class belongs to other roles.

To override security rules for a role

  1. Within the Profile Management option set, choose the Role Overrides option.
  2. In the Role Name field, select a role.
  3. In the Security Class field, select the security class containing the rule you want to override.
  4. Choose the type of override:
    • If you want to modify one of the rules in the security class, select the rule and then choose View/Modify Rule.

    • If you want to delete a rule, select the rule, choose Delete, and then choose OK to confirm the deletion.

    • If you want to add a rule, choose Add.

  5. If you are modifying or adding a rule, make the rule changes on the Rules Builder form.
  6. After you complete each rule change or addition, choose Apply and then OK.
  7. If you need to make additional overrides for this security class within the context of the specific role, repeat steps 4 through 6. (If you need to make numerous overrides, consider creating a new security class instead.)
