In accordance with the provisions of Decree-Law n. º 198/2012 of 24 August, taxpayers must report the transport documents issued to Tax Authority. Each delivery must receive approval from the government before goods can be sent. The government returns a number that must be included in the SAFT-PT.

In accordance with Portaria 160/2013, taxpayers are obliged to notify the Autoridade Tributária eAduaneira (AT) or Portuguese Tax and Customs Authorities of the generated transport documents prior to movement of goods.
