The Indian Central and State Governments have set up the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN), which is a not-for-profit non-government company that provides a shared IT infrastructure and services to the Central and State Governments and deliver a standard and uniform interface for tax payers. The Goods and Service Tax (GST) portal provides front-end services for registration, returns and payments for all taxpayers, and the back end IT modules for certain states that include processing of returns, registrations, audits, assessments, appeals, and so on. States, Accounting authorities, the Reserve Bank of India and other banks, and software providers are also preparing their IT infrastructure for the administration of GST.
