Excess Inventory

The Excess Inventory widget enables the administrator or the manager of the warehouse to identify the items that have been surplus in the past and the items that are overstocked for the upcoming days. The widget assists a user to maintain a balanced inventory level and prevent the risks, such as stocking up obsolete items.
The Excess Inventory widget displays the list of items and the excess quantities of each item for the specified period. The quantities are expressed in the item units which has been defined in Infor LN.
Note: The widget displays the excess quantities in positive values.

Initially, the widget also displays the item records based on the warehouse defaulted in the Warehousing User Profiles (whwmd1140s000) session from Infor LN. You can use the Configure Widget screen to modify the settings.

The excess quantities can be calculated for these periods:
  • Past: Indicates to dates in the past.
  • Future: Indicates to the current date and extends to the upcoming days.
  • Mixed: Indicates to a date in the past and extends to the upcoming days.

Inventory Excess calculation

For Past period,

Inventory Excess = Initial Inventory Level + Inbound Transactions of past period – Outbound Transactions

For the Future period,

Expected Inventory Excess = Initial Inventory Level of the current date + Inbound Transactions of the current date + Planned Inbound Transactions for a period – Outbound Transactions of the current date – Planned Outbound Transactions for a period

For the Mixed period, the excess is calculated based on the past inventory transactions and the planned inventory transaction.

The widget retrieves the information from these sessions in Infor LN to calculate the excess quantities:
  • Perform Inventory Valuation (whina1210m000)
  • Item – Warehouse - Inventory Transactions (whinr1510m000)
  • Planned Inventory Transactions (whinp1500m000)
Note: The Initial Inventory Level is retrieved from the Perform Inventory Valuation (whina1210m000) session, the completed inbound and outbound transactions are retrieved from Item – Warehouse - Inventory Transactions (whinr1510m000) session, and the planned inbound and outbound transactions are retrieved from Planned Inventory Transactions (whinp1500m000) session in Infor LN
