Obtaining the certificate file of an HTTPS URL

To obtain the certificate file of an HTTPS URL, use the browser. For example, complete these steps when you use the Google Chrome browser:

  1. In the upper right corner of the Chrome window, click Customize and control Google Chrome and select More tools > Developer Tools.
  2. Click the Security tab and click View certificate.
  3. Click the Details tab and click Copy to File. Then click Next.
  4. Select Base-64 encoded X.509 (.CER) and click Next.
  5. Click Browse to select a directory and a file name. Then click Save.
  6. Click Next and Finish to complete the certificate export wizard.
