Setting up picking profiles

A picking profile consists of an ID code, a description, a priority number, and one or more selection criteria called picking profile lines. The picking profile is linked to specific users or is available for all users.

The priority number determines the order in which the picking profiles are displayed on the scanner display if a barcode system such as Factory Track is integrated with LN. In LN, you can sort the picking profiles by priority number in the Picking Profiles (whwmd1160m000) session. The lowest number has the highest priority. You can adjust the priority numbers as needed.

A picking profile line consists of an attribute and a value. The attribute and the value together make up the selection criterion.

The exception to this rule is the Warehouse Order Origin attribute. You can assign multiple values, that is, warehouse order origins, to the Warehouse Order Origin attribute.

A value is an object with an identity of its own, for example, an individual warehouse, warehouse zone, or business partner.

An attribute is a property that indicates the type of object and the direction of the object, with the exception of attribute Warehouse Order Origin, for which no direction is defined.

For example, attribute From Warehouse or To Warehouse indicate the type of object and the direction of the items on the outbound advice lines. From Warehouse means items to be picked from the warehouse and To Warehouse means items to be shipped or transferred to the warehouse.

Thus, a picking profile line with attribute From Warehouse and value WH1 selects outbound advice lines with goods that are to be picked from warehouse WH1.

See the online help of the Attribute field for the available attributes.

How outbound advice lines are selected

To select outbound advice lines, the attributes are divided into these groups:

  1. Warehouse Order Origin
  2. From Warehouse, From Zone, From Location
  3. To Zone, To Location
  4. To WarehouseTo Business PartnerTo Work Center

If a picking profile includes more than one picking profile line from the same group, outbound advice lines are selected that match at least one of the criteria of the group. If the picking profile lines are from different groups, advice lines that match both criteria are selected.

Example

A picking profile consists of these picking profile lines:

  • From Warehouse WH1
  • From Location L21 in warehouse WH2
  • To Zone Z11 in WH1
  • To Zone Z21 in warehouse WH2
  • To Business Partner B1

This picking profile selects these outbound advice lines:

  • That are to be picked from warehouse WH1 or location L21 in warehouse WH2.
  • That go to zone Z11 in warehouse WH1 or zone Z21 in warehouse WH2.
  • That go to business partner B1.
