Data setup for floor stock items

To enable floor stock items in manufacturing, you must perform these settings.

Parameter:

To enable this feature in general level as well as on the site level, the Floor Stock check box on the Concepts (Logistics) tab, in the Production group, in the Implemented Software Components (tccom0100s000) session must be selected. The Floor Stock function related to production is also enabled.
Note: The Floor Stock check box is enabled only if the Job Shop by Site concept is active in the Implemented Software Components (tccom0100s000) session.

Items:

If the Floor Stock check box is selected in the Items (tcib0501m000) session, the item is defined as floor stock item.

Note: 
  • This check box is displayed only if the Floor Stock check box is selected in the Implemented Software Components (tccom0100s000) session.
  • This check box cannot be modified if the floor stock check box is selected on site level.
  • Floor Stock is only applicable for items of the type Product.
  • These check boxes are cleared and disabled:
    • Configurable
    • Customizable
    • Customized
    • Subassembly
    • Lot Controlled
    • Serialized
    • Demand Pegged
    • Unit Effectivity End Item
    • Unit Effective Supply
    • Critical Safety Item
    • Subject to Trade Compliance

Items by Site:

Once the item is defined as floor stock, you can select if the item must be considered as floor stock for the site or as regular material. In the latter case, the Floor Stock check box must be cleared for the site.

Note: 
  • This check box is displayed only if the Floor Stock check box is selected in the Implemented Software Components (tccom0500m000) session.
  • This check box is disabled if the Use Global Item check box is selected.
  • If the Floor Stock check box is selected at the global level, the value and the corresponding setting are defaulted to this session.
  • For the floor stock item, the Default Supply Source can only be set to Purchase or Distribution.
  • For a new or existing item, this check box is selected if:
    • The Floor Stock check box is selected at the Item-level.
    • Sub entities do not exist for Production, Service, Planning, and Dimension.
  • These options are disabled if the item is floor stock item:
    • Production
    • Service
    • Planning
    • Dimension
    • Date-effective supply source by site

For the Item Defaults (tcibd0502m000) and Item Defaults by Site (tcibd1551m000) session, the same logic applies. For the Item Control and Defaults by Site (tcibd1552m000) session, these options are not displayed in case the item is a floor stock item:

  • Create Item-Production
  • Create Item- Service

Bill of Material limitations

If a material in production is defined as floor stock, you cannot keep track of material handling. Therefore, these bill of material fields for material handling doesn’t apply:

  • Net Quantity
  • Scrap Percentage
  • Scrap Quantity
  • Phantom
  • Inherit Demand Peg
  • Replaces Item
  • Allow Multiple Items
  • Report Material
  • Customer Furnished Material
  • Contains Customer Furnished Material
  • Lot Selection
  • Supplied by Subcontractor
  • Supplying Warehouse
  • As-Built

To be aware that floor stock is required for the order, by default, the Print on Order Document option is selected.

The above details applies to these sessions:

  • Production Bill of Material Lines (timfc3110m000)
  • Job Shop List of Material (tibom3110m000)
  • List Material (tirpt2120m000)
  • Product Subcontractor Bill of Material (tisub1110m000)
  • Generic Bill of Material (tipcf3110m000)
  • Generic Job Shop List of Material (tipcf3612m000, tipcf3112m000)
  • Generic Subcontracting Model List of Material (tipcf3116m000)

These options also don’t apply for orders. Additional to the above settings for the bills of material, these fields are not applicable for Production Orders, if the item is floor stock item:

  • Direct Initiate Inventory Issue
  • Direct Process Warehouse Order Line
  • Point of Usage
  • Backflush

These field are not applicable in the Estimated Materials (ticst0101m000) and Schedule Line Materials(tirpt4121m000) session, if the item is a floor stock item:

  • Backflush
  • To Issue
  • As-Built
