Simulate Conversion Factors (tcibd0203s000)

Use this session to simulate conversions between the units in an item's unit set. Before you can use this session, you must specify the conversion factors between the units of the unit set in the Conversion Factors (tcibd0103m000) session.

To see whether a conversion factor exists between two units of a unit set, and the value of the conversion factor:

  1. Select the item.
  2. Select the base unit.
  3. Select the unit that you want to convert to the base unit.
  4. Click Calculate.

Example

If the item's weight is 6 kg a piece and you select the following: Base unit = pcs(piece). Unit = kg (kilogram). The Value field shows how many base units (pcs) it takes to make up one unit (kg), which in this case is 1/6 = 0.166666666.

If the Raise 10 to the Power field shows a value other than zero, you must multiply the found value by 10 to the shown power to obtain the correct conversion factor. You can use this to display very small quantities correctly.

Example

If the item's weight is 4 kg a piece and you select the following: Base unit = pcs(piece). Unit = ton (1000 kg). It takes 1000/4 = 250 base units (pcs) to make one unit (ton). Depending on how you specified the conversion factor in the Conversion Factors (tcibd0103m000) session, this can be shown as: Value = 25. Raise 10 to the Power field = 1.

If the selected base unit is not the item's inventory unit, LN performs the calculation in two steps:

  1. The selected base unit is converted to the item's inventory unit.
  2. The resulting quantity of the inventory unit is converted to the selected unit.

Field Information

Item

The item for which you want to simulate the calculation of conversion factors.

Base Unit

The base unit of the conversion factors.

If you select an item, LN displays the item's inventory unit. If you wish, you can select a unit other than the item's inventory unit from the item's unit set.

For base units other than the inventory unit, LN carries out the conversion is in two steps.

Unit

The unit for which LN determines the conversion factor.

Raise 10 to the Power

If the Raise 10 to the Power field shows a value other than zero, you must multiply the found value by 10 to the shown power to obtain the correct conversion factor.

Item

The item for which you specified the found conversion factor in the Conversion Factors (tcibd0103m000) session.

If this field is empty, you did not specify a conversion factor between the selected base unit and unit for an item.

Item Group

The item group for which you specified the found conversion factor in the Conversion Factors (tcibd0103m000) session.

If this field is empty, you did not specify a conversion factor between the selected base unit and unit for an item group.

Base Unit

The base unit for which you specified the found conversion factor in the Conversion Factors (tcibd0103m000) session.

If this field is empty, you did not specify a conversion factor between the selected base unit and unit.

Unit

The unit for which you specified the found conversion factor in the Conversion Factors (tcibd0103m000) session.

If this field is empty, you did not specify a conversion factor between the selected base unit and unit.
