Transport Means Groups (fmfmd0150m000)

Use this session to view and maintain transport means groups.

In addition to a unique identifying code and a description, a transport means group consists of a few general details and capacity details.

The general details refer to the following properties:

  • The transport category (transport by air, by road, and so on).
  • The kind of items the transport means group can carry. This is determined by the combination code and transport type selected for a transport means group.
  • The average speed of the means of transport that belong to a transport means group.
  • The transport documents (packing list, packing slip, or Bill of Lading) required for transports that a transport means group carries out. This is determined by the choice of shipment procedure.

The capacity details refer to the loading capacity of individual means of transport that belong to a transport means group.

Note:

The default value 0.0000 in one of the capacity fields means that the current transport means group is not available for load building or rough planning using this capacity unit.

If you enter 999999 for a capacity unit, the capacity is limitless for the current transport means group, which means that this capacity will never be a planning constraint.

Field Information

Transport Means Group

transport means group

Transport Category

The transport category of the transport means group.

Maximum Planning Percentage

The maximum planning percentage is the percentage of the available loading capacity that can be utilized. The available loading capacity is the average loading capacity of means of transport that belong to the current transport means group. You can change the default value of 100%.

Combination Code

The combination code for the current transport means group. If you select a combination code, the current transport means group is only available for items with the same combination code.

Transport Type

The transport type for the current transport means group. If you select a transport type, the current transport means group is only available for items with the same transport type.

Average Speed

The average speed of the means of transport that belong to the current transport means group.

The average speed is used to calculate the time required for transportation between two addresses if the distance between them is known. The average speed is used in load building. Distances between addresses are maintained in the Distance Table by City (tccom4537m000) session and Distance Table by ZIP Code/Postal Code (tccom4538m000) session.

The average speed is expressed in the default distance and time units set in the Freight Master Data Parameters (fmfmd0100m000) session.

Capacity in Weight

The capacity in weight expresses the average weight capacity of means of transport that belong to the current transport means group.

Weight Unit

The weight unit that expresses the capacity in weight. You can overwrite the Freight default weight unit. The Freight default measuring units are set in the Freight Master Data Parameters (fmfmd0100m000) session. Freight master-data parameters are mandatory.

Capacity in Volume

The capacity in volume expresses the average volume capacity of means of transport that belong to the current transport means group.

Volume Unit

The volume unit that expresses the capacity in volume. You can overwrite the default volume unit. The Freight default measuring units are set in the Freight Master Data Parameters (fmfmd0100m000) session. Freight master-data parameters are mandatory.

Capacity in Floor Space

The capacity in area expresses the average area capacity of means of transport that belong to the current transport means group.

Area Unit

The area unit that expresses the capacity in surface area. You can overwrite the default freight-management area unit. The freight-management default measuring units are set in the Freight Master Data Parameters (fmfmd0100m000) session. Master data parameters are mandatory.

Capacity in Pieces

The average capacity expressed in piece units for individual means of transport that belong to the current transport means group.

Piece Unit

The piece unit for the current transport means group.

Average Speed

The default time unit for hours. The default time unit for hours is set in the Freight Master Data Parameters (fmfmd0100m000) session.

Shipment Procedure

The default shipment procedure for the current transport means group.

Speed Unit in Length

The distance unit that is used to express the average speed.

Load Planning

If this check box is selected, freight orders for which the current transport means group is selected are available for load building. If this check box is cleared, freight orders for which the current transport means group is selected are available for freight order clustering.

Independent Use Allowed

If this check box is selected, the transport means group is available for load building and freight order clustering in its own right. If this check box is cleared, the transport means group is only available for vehicle types, which you attach to Transport means combinations..
