Peg distribution for cycle counting and adjustment orders

Cycle counting results and inventory adjustments can affect project pegged inventory levels. When a variance is specified during a cycle count, or when pegged inventory is adjusted, the affected project pegs must be determined.

For this purpose, project peg information is maintained on the cycle counting or adjustment order line for project pegged inventory stored in project warehouses.

For project pegged inventory stored in non-project warehouses, you can generate a peg distribution. A peg distribution shows the project pegged inventory by project peg.

The peg distribution line can also include a blank peg. The remaining quantity or the total quantity is then processed as unpegged.

The generated peg distribution details are displayed in the Cycle Counting Order Line Peg Distribution (whinh5107m000) and the Adjustment Order Line Peg Distribution (whinh5127m000) sessions.

LN allocates the specified variance to the project pegs according to the priorities described in Priority sequences in peg distributions for cycle counting and adjustments.

You can generate peg distributions using the Generate Peg Distribution option in these sessions:

  • Cycle Counting Orders (whinh5100m000)
  • Cycle Counting Order (whinh5600m000)
  • Cycle Counting Order Lines (whinh5101m000)
  • Cycle Counting Order Line Peg Distribution (whinh5107m000)
  • Adjustment Orders (whinh5120m000)
  • Adjustment Order (whinh5120m100)
  • Adjustment Order Lines (whinh5121m000)
  • Adjustment Order Line Peg Distribution (whinh5127m000)

When the Generate Peg Distribution option is used for an order or a group of orders, project peg distributions are generated for all underlying order lines.

Before processing the cycle counting results, you can adjust the generated peg distribution. For example, by allocating the variance to other than the default project pegs.

If you do not generate a peg distribution before processing the cycle counting results or the inventory adjustments, you cannot adjust the allocation of the variance to the project pegs generated by LN.

Note:
  • If cycle counting results or inventory adjustments result in a larger pegged inventory quantity than the total pegged inventory quantity of the project, an error message to the effect that no pegs are found for the surplus quantity is displayed.

You can solve this by manually adding a new peg to the peg distribution and adding the surplus quantity to the new peg.

For this purpose, you must specify a peg change reason.

If the message was displayed during processing, you must generate a peg distribution and reprocess the cycle counting or adjustments orders.

  • If the modification of a peg distribution results in negative inventory, processing is not allowed.

  • When adjustment orders are generated as part of another process in LN, for example, rejection of goods during inspection, the peg distribution is created by this process and is processed by LN.
